I bet DJ can fap to that !

As far retro consoles go, i was always impressed how good Battlezone looked for an Atari 2600 game :

To be honest, I was never a big fan of early Ys graphics except maybe the Sega Genesis and Turbografx 16 versions of Ys III. It's more the gameplay overall that I was a big fan of and the first NES game gameplay wasn't necessarily the best.

That said it's not that bad either and they at least added details in the bushes or the sides of the river, unlike certain other games (*glares at Zelda II world map*).

As for the best graphics I have ever seen, I would say Forza Horizon 3 so far. If we go for SNES, I would say Final Fantasy VI. And for Atari 2600 I agree with @gameblabla , although in my case Battlezone would come second, behind Solaris:

It totally looks like some NES and Sega Master System games. Title Match Pro Wrestling isn't too far behind (it also looks like some early NES games)

The cutest graphics I've ever seen was probably this one from 1994 called "Mother 2"
I just love how much work they put into making it look bright and colorfull :)

Actually,  the second screenshot is not Earthbound for the SuperNES, its Mother 4, the unofficial sequel to Mother 3 programmed in C# made by fans.

Earthbound always looked cool, although back then my favorite on the SNES was Final Fantasy VI.

Also I didn't know there was still a Nintendo fan game out there after the pile of DMCA takedown notices Nintendo sent everywhere. I should check Mother 4 out, though. I still wish Mother 3 came out on the Nintendo 64. I remember the previews in Nintendo Power and went apec at it, happy that the N64 would finally get a proper RPG, only to see it canceled.

Wow @garvalf and @p2 those animations look amazing, especially the jungle one O.O

The simpson anim is cool.

For the jungle one, in fact it's not really an animation, it's more amazing that that, it's only color cycling! It was made on Amiga by Mark Ferrari.
Check is website, there are more: http://www.effectgames.com/demos/canvascycle/ (this version is not animated gif so you can't save it unfortunately, it recreates the cycling with html5)

This other thing is very cool too: http://www.effectgames.com/demos/worlds/ (you can change the hour of the day and the pixels will change too)

Oh nice idea. I actually thought about using color cycling before in a game if Doors CE 9 was to come out earlier than now. It would have most likely allowed fast animations. In some games I also used the same color for multiple IDs in one sprite so that I could store multiple sprites into one.

Placing the colors accordingly can be a major chore, though.

I'd love a desktop background that would do that based on the current system time.

By the way I just checked the site above again as I did not notice garvalf's edit and I love how you can now change the hour of day and other settings for each scenery. It's really done well and a lot of work must have been put into this. This is going to the CW articles pending queue for sure.

Reminds me, for that Simpsons GIF, gotta link to the full video, it's simply amazing.

Oh, and the guy also made the Rick and Morty intro, it's amazing as well.

That last vid was weird lol but it looks nice in old-school graphics style. The Rick and Morty video reminds me a bit of the 16-bits Doctor Who remix

Woah @STV that is amazing. I really need to check out if my 2009 Intel Core i7 machine can run those games in full speed.

@DJ Omnimaga My Broadwell Intel Core i3-5005U with an Intel integrated GPU could play some Wii games at full speed on 1.5 tmes Internal Resolution (720p), so any i7 should do the job. The problem is that a 2009 one is older than Sandy Bridge, and that could be a problem. The official site recommends at least Ivy Bridge or Haswell for optimal performance :

Anyways, Dolphin can actually handle an unlimited internal resolution. They manage to take a screenshot of SMG at 31x Internal Resolution, something like 30000x20000p
