(Note: the black fluffy balls are stacked spiders)
Lol cool, being from Australia, spiders are something that you get used to ... well mostly.
That is a hell of a lot though!
Yeah and your spiders are quite huge, too >.< I would be a bit creeped out if I saw a tarantula in my home, but I think I would be even more if I saw a daddy big legs spider ball indoors since that could probably mean that there's a nest somewhere in the walls or getting rid of all of them would be hard. That said, if you know which type of spiders are dangerous then you are probably fine. If it wasn't for them creating plenty of sticky webs, reproducing and possibly crawling on me or my food at night I would probably not mind keeping two or three alive in my appartment so that they can take care of wasps, mosquitoes and flies for me.
EDIT: lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNHK565cVe8
Seriously, that thing is bigger than most hamsters O.O
Depends if it's just a teeny flycatcher or a black widow... I'm not afraid of NL spiders but damn would I get the hell away from a black widow or similar not so pretty spider.
Sometimes, over here, when people buys grapes there is a spider in the package and in rare occasions it was a black widow. This makes the news when this happens and it's kinda scary despite being very rare. >.<
Also it's Friday 13th :P
it was on the news yesterday that some women found a banana filled with spiders. I wouldn't like that (i don't really like banana's anyway :P)
Oh wow I would probably be disgisted of bananas for years x.x
Butbutbut bananas are good. D:
/me changed his nick to Streetmonkey
Seriously tho, same as aeTIos. I'm not generally afraid (at all) of spiders/bees/wasps/other dangerous small things but if I were to face a massive one I'd probably react differently.
I let most spiders sit in my room, so they eat all the mosquitos. Yes, i have mosquito's in the winter. q.q
I usually let insects crawl on me. My sister hates them tho. :P
Wait what? O.O
I am unsure if I would want a very large spider to crawl on me and especially not anything that can sting, like mosquitoes or wasps. Of course it depends what kind of bug it is, though. There are some I don't mind picking up or letting crawl on my arms :P As for wasps I know they won't necessarily sting me but just one slight movement can cause them to think you are attacking them then they can sting you and it hurts bad. Plus I hate when stuff goes on my food anyway.
This is the vid i posted on IRC a while back ... this is pretty much on the money for rural public bathrooms:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7skCdp5oTIE
Lol.
I assume in Australia this also happens at McDonald's toilets? :P
Lol that's one hell of a spider. :o
I like spiders outside of my house. I also hate bananas. I also dislike bees indoors because I seem to get stung indoors. I let bees crawl on my fingers if I'm at the botanical garden.
Edit.
@DJ Omnimaga the original video has daddy long legs if I'm not mistaken. They're harmless and kinda weird (imo).
Yeah I think we have them over here. They're not scary but I wouldn't want hundreds of them suddenly crawling my bedroom after I push something to the back of my closet. :P
Spiders are a gray zone for me: they don't scare me but I don't want them on my body.
exactly
But amazignly snakes doesn't scare me at all.
Hissss Hissss
Nice try, kiddo, I find snakes too cute to being affraid of them ! :p

Just look at him (or her) :3
(-_(//)); Ssssublime.
Yeah those huntsman spiders are very fast lol ... also snakes are something that I dont like that much.
But that's to be expected when you live in an area that has 5 of the worlds deadliest in the wild.
Not sure if I am very fond of snakes personally. There was a zootherapy girl at a local fair once and we could put her snake around the back of our neck and it was kinda akward. That one was safe but I am unsure if I would want to go near a wild snake, knowing how fast they can attack.
I'm sure that your girl had a boa, they don't attack quickly IIRC like q cobra would.
Or maybe a Python (http://img.codewalr.us/snek.gif) (yes, ive just made this :P)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPTp4KBrxA8
i think that fact might be bullce :3
Like a Youtube comment says, it's an average. If people eats an average of 8 spiders a year, it could be that hundreds of people never eat any, but one or two people eat 100 a year during their sleep. :P
ANd even if it's not true, I am fairly sure that there is at least one person in the world that does it. After all, this world is full of sick individuals. :P
I blame Spiders Georg.
Quote from: http://reallyreallyreallytrying.tumblr.com/post/40033025233/average-person-eats-3-spiders-a-year-factoid"average person eats 3 spiders a year" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
I wouldn't want to sleep in a cavern where there are lots of spiders. Imagine if one crawls inside my mouth and then I wake up and chew on it without knowing. It must be disgusting. >.< I know that some insects can be eaten but large spiders sometimes almost seem like 90% liquid when you kill them >.<
I am not scared of a single spider but an ant colony just creeps me out *.*
Really? O.O I know that some ants can sting or bite but not the ones here IIRC and while they are annoying if you walk in the forest I don't care much about them. In the forest if I stand there and am on an unnoticed nest they start crawling on my legs. Jumping usually make them fall but sometimes they might end up inside my shoes, which is less fun.
I remember those pre historic ants now who where like 10cm O.O
10 cm in length or width?
Both, they were enormous O.O

Yeah that is what I am afraid of because when I was young I hated it when I had the feeling of ants crawling up my leg.

Another reason why i won't go to australia.
I didn't even finish the video *cringes
THe only good side of this that I would like personally is the fact those spiders are probably getting rid of annoying bugs like wasps, mosquitoes and flies, which is why I never kill spiders that are outside (unless one was actually dangerous or invasive). But they better stay outdoors. Also I hated when I was teen and delivered newspapers/flyers, only to have my face covered by part of spider webs >.<
There are a lot of mosquito's in my room so i let most spiders in my room be. Uless they're really big, we don't really have any poisonous spiders here in holland.
The most poisonous spider in the world lives in our bathroom O.O
THE DADDY LONGLEG!
Does it poison you with cuteness? :P
Supposedly daddy longlegs are the most poisoness but us humans are immune. It may be a myth though.
Close, they can't peirce our skin, o they can't poison us.
Oh, that's interesting. Do we know what would happen if one were somehow able to?
It looks like there is no evident they are. Mythbusters tested it and none of them died, also there are no recorded deaths due to a daddy longlegs bite...
Still I have allot of friends that react with a few notable words when I put one down their shirt :P
Lol, I'm not really that scared of spiders though.
I am only scared when it is a deadly spider or one that could make me sick. Still I would be the first to put a tennis shoe in it's face :P
Some people will just do this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK9fG82E24o
Overkill much? Also that guy must really hate spiders O.O
Indeed. I think that when you have encountered killer, disgusting giant aliens for days and trying to hide or hunt them 24/7 in a space ship or base, then you would jump at anything, though. :P
On top of that, the facehuggers in Alien series looks a bit like giant spiders.
I'm afraid of spiders and walrii's...
All :walrii: are friendly. Except te evil ones :P
(http://i.imgur.com/UyvuWxc.png)
All these are fine respectable Walrii.
We need to have more walriis so Unicorn can fill his entire screen :P
Indeed :P Thats actually a little outdated, so I better get a new one.
We really need some page to keep track of all the walrii's
I should add them to the first post of the Walrii fan art topic and add their names.
I love the Illuminati ones. The shape of their head is pretty funny.
I personally prefer the others actually, probably due to the eyes. :P
Also this topic is about spiders, by the way, not walruses. :P That said, a spider walrus would be another sprite idea for the Walrii fanart thread. Maybe it could be based off bb010g avatar like the other one :P
Plesse no dj, unless its like spider man or something.
Did a radioactive spider bit a walrii? O.O Spoder Walrii pls.
Would it look something like this?

I think it will be brown like the walrus mosquito, but look nearly identical to bb010g avatar. The only other difference will be the four extra legs.
With a spider back. And 8 eyes.
Do spiders always have 8 eyes or is it just some species?

Turns out they vary (http://www.spiders.us/faq/how-many-eyes-do-spiders-have/)
Also, did you guys know that most insects have, besides the 2 big eyes have 3 (yes, three!) more eyes on the top of their head? O.O
Darn, I wish I had that many eyes. :P
I have a hundred eyes. In my soul O.O
Imagine waking up to this:

O.O horror movie IRL :P
Are those eyes on the bed? I'm glad my kindle messes up images sometimes. :/
EDIT: Oh, gawd I'm not gonna look for a while...
Must have been horrible for the child O.O
#Scaredforlife
Indeed. Unless the kid never heard of tarantulas before and that it was IRL. I doubt it, though. It must be from an old movie.
Spiders are pretty handy outside but once they're close to me, they're on death row.
lol, but the daddy longleg is soo insect killing... :P
I keep reading stuff about how daddy longlegs are dangerous, but then many posts saying they're nowhere close to it. I have to wonder if the ones who claim they are dangerous didn't trap them in their hand or try to get bitten. That said, I also prefer that they stay outside the house. :P

I love spiders. I really want a pet tarantula as well. One of my teachers even offered me his. Sadly my mom wont let me have one ):

Ah right, the skin-piercing thing. Some people say the venom isn't that powerful, though.
Also I wouldn't want a pet tarantula. I kinda prefer pets that we can play with, like budgies, cats, dogs, etc. And I won't get a pet since I wouldn't have the time to take care of it.
What is budgy? No kidding, pet to play with are better, in my opinion.
Budgies are those little parakets that are usually green and yellow. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budgerigar

What I've heard is that the venom is relatively the strongest based on size of either the spider or the fangs. Since they can't pierce the skin we never get bit by them but I also think that they can't deliver enough venom even if they could bite us.

no cgi, i have a bear grylls dvd where he eats a whip spider.... grim
seems fair enough if he wants to eat them i guess
In any case, if that isn't venomous then I would rather have this than the many wasps we have here during the 2nd half of the summer. Wasps are annoying as hell and if you try to make them go away they try to sting you >.<
Haha one tried to sting me the other day once it had gotten under my t-shirt
*edit wasp not bee
sting cut by skin
i could feel it stickin out afterwards and only had a tiny c of venom which was tight
interesting
diagram of skin mechanism
bits come out

bits chop -->

sting left in!!
but stickin out
k thx number
I would hate that, but fortunately I never had that happen. Usually they stick to my t-shirt but above it, not under it. I usually try to be careful to not do big movements but at one point the thing has to go away. At least bees can only sting you one and they aren't as agressive. Apparently if you aren't allergic and get stung, it makes the next bee sting less harmful as the initial one boosts your immune system or something like that. The sting must be painfull, though (I never got stung by bees but it happened as kid by wasps)
