Title: Freenode IRC syncing discontinued
Post by: Dream of Omnimaga on March 31, 2015, 06:23:05 PM
Due to lack of users and the fact that almost everybody who use #CodeWalrus IRC channel are already on EFnet,  Omninet or using one of the two forum shoutboxes, we have come to the decision to discontinue Freenode support and linking for #CodeWalrus. From now on, in order to use the #CodeWalrus IRC channel, you will have to use one of the following method:

-Connect to EFnet then join #CodeWalrus
-Connect to Omninet then join #CodeWalrus
-WalrusIRC (main website IRC shoutbox)
-OmnomIRC (alternate one available via your profile group membership settings)

The IRC relay bot that links all the four above will also be renamed to something shorter to improve readability of IRC conversations when chatting from an IRC client. But it will no longer connect to the Freenode network, so anybody who joins #CodeWalrus from Freenode from now on will not be able to chat with us anymore.

We invite everyone who idles in the Freenode #CodeWalrus channel to switch over to one of the EFnet (http://www.efnet.org/?module=servers) or Omninet (http://api.omnimaga.org/irc/site/map.gif) servers (although this should not be a serious issue since almost all of you already use other IRC channels on those networks or are using WalrusIRC).

I modified the bot config, it's now called WB and the network indicator is Network> instead of (Network). It could even be removed actually.

Removing it could work, since it looks kinda weird in some clients.

Also for some reasons, WalriiBot is still connected to Freenode under its old nick O.O

EDIT: I disabled it in OmnomIRC admin panel. You will need to restart it, as well as WalrusIRC I think, though.
